Welcome to a brand new term!

What a fantastic 2022 we had bringing the choirs back from COVID and finally getting in person together again. Not only that but over the course of the year we also raised a staggering £9500 for our chosen charity Hospiscare. It has been great watching the choirs grow again and to perform our first concerts for a couple of years, taking part in social events and even jumping out of planes!

My sincere thanks to every one of your that supported the choir last year and well done for those of you who took part in one of our performances this year. Special thanks also go to Helen and Lester Bowker who so very kindly provided their beautiful farm grounds for both concerts. We know that it takes a lot of effort to do it and we are all so grateful.

If you’ve recently signed up for a taster, we’re very excited to meet you. All term dates and locations can be found on the website link https://soundschoirs.co.uk/our-choirs/, and choir resumes next week with Heavitree Sounds on Wednesday evening and East Devon Sounds on Thursday evening.

If you are receiving this email and no longer are attending choir, please do take the time to let me know or unsubscribe.

New App!

Following the announcement from ChorusClass that they are going to start charging a monthly fee for their free accounts, I have been trying to source an alternative. Luckily, eagle eyed choir member Geoff Pratley spotted ChoirMate, and I invited a couple of members to try it out. I’m now inviting you all to please do the same. I would very much like it if you can all download it!

The link for our choir is Join Sounds Choirs by visiting this link from your phone or tablet: https://link.choirmate.com/4wfHsa3xNkGMLBpq5

It is available for Apple, Google and Android devices. It has the added functionality of being able to see up coming rehearsals, see a full calendar of events, and to mark yourself as absent if you can’t be there. It can link your straight to our own website and even has a VERY handy bulletin board and messaging system, where you can message me or other choir members direct.

Membership Fees

The choir is now starting its 8th year of being, and boy have we been through an awful lot together. In all that time I have never raised membership fees. However, in order to keep growing and to keep moving forward I have taken the difficult decision to increase the fees by £5 per term. This equates as roughly 45p more per week.
So fees for an 11 week term will now be £60.

As venue fees and licensing fees, liability insurance and music fees continue to rise, I am having to make this decision to keep the choir viable.

As ever, I have always tried to help choir members out where possible, so if this rise in fees would prevent you from being able to come along, please do let me know and I will try my best to come to a solution that suits everyone.

Fees are now due, and can be made in person with the (now working) card reader or by BACS transfer using the following details.

Account Name: Ellie Williams Music
Account Number: 25377462
Sort Code: 30-80-37

I’m going to be at each venue 15 minutes early to take card payments, and complete registration with everyone, but please be aware that sometimes this can take a little time.
